Can you program Sip and unistim IP phones on 4.5 release both to be used at the same time. I can see in the book I can have both h.232 trunks and sip trunks at the same time but I am not sure about the phones. If so or not can you tell me where this is documented?

What do you mean by "both to be used at the same time". A CS 1000 4.5 system will offer a level of support for SIP phones but with significant limitations. The support for SIP Line is much better with CS 1000 6.0.

My vendor told me I could not have SIP and unistim phones programmed on my 4.5 switch. They say I can have one or the other. They say I will need to upgrade to 5.5 in order to program and use sip phones and unistim phones. We currently use i2004 and i2002 phones and would like to add some SIP phones but are told we cannot unless we upgrade to 5.5.

Good question. I think what they are telling you is true. But while you're asking them about SIP - ask them if you can have SIP stations and SIP trunks on the same signaling server. I was told by Nortel I would need one signaling server for each. That is - unless I wait a few months, then they will be offering SIP stations and trunks on the same signaling server.

SIP Line on CS 1000 5.5/6.0 does currently require a separate SLG (SIP Line Gateway).

You can have both SIP and UNIStim phones on the same system with the right hardware/software.
