Hi
I need some help regarding singlemode fibre. if the backbone cabling from outside plant is entering the facility the first patch panel it entered should have single mode patch cords on other end or what are the other possibilities.the next node shall be a switch. technically how short and how long SM patch cords can be used? can u give different solution in stepby step form.

Your singlemode fibre should be presented in a patch panel. You then use a single mode patch lead to patch from the patch panel to the switch. The transceiver in the switch will need to be LR, LH, ER, ZX, or something similar, and the switch on the other end of the singlemode link will have the same transceiver in it.

Thanks for your assistence. Can somebody help to count the fiber optic fibers and patch panels. If the number of controllers at remote locations are known then fibers can be counted and how much contingency is required
