ok I have sales people giving me crap about this. Im trying to stand my ground but I need some backup. For the record im using an mxe on 7.1 with mobile ext/teleworker/and embedded vm.

I have some of my Signle line users (users that thier DN exists once on thier phone) that complain that they cannot recieve another call while they are on the line. Instead the system announces they are busy and sends them to voicemail (as it should)

The only way you would be able to have multiple instaces of a DN would be if that DN was a multicall. Though its my understanding that a multicall cannot be a mobile extension member.

To me, if im on the phone, I dont know why I would want to be interrupted with anohter call unless this is the sales hotline or something.

I know I could just make anohter directory number and reroute calls to that number..but that still would throuw off mobile extensions.

I guess my main question here is, is mobile extension out of the question on a multicall line?whats your take on this.

THanks,

That's my understanding as well, since ME requires the DN involved to be programmed as a Key System appearance. You are correct in the only real workaround being to set either CF-Busy or a re-route on busy to another DN appearing on the same set.

However, if you do this on a line configured with Mobile Extension, that means that only the first call to the DN will ring the twinned phone, the 2nd call will bounce to the RR/FWD destination and NOT ring the twinned device. The workaround to that would be to set up the 2nd line with ME as well, twinned to the same number as the first line.

Lundah has it right. Also, if you did use the workaround and had the 2nd line monitored, I'm pretty sure you would need another ME license.

You can't fix stupid...

But you sure can profit from it!

We use mobile extension and multicall lines; I have 3 line appearances of my desk extension on my phone and I use my mobile extension quite frequently.

Program an IP device as the mobile extension monitor with a key system appearance of the mobile extension. A key system appearance of the mobile extension is then added to the users desk set. Create a forwarding rule at the users extension to forward calls to the mobile extension; to be turned on by the user as needed.

And the MAS server does the rest.

Note: In this example the desk extension is 3152, the mobile monitor extension is 1352 and the mobile extension is 1452.

Oh and the device type is 5220 with a MAC address of 00:00:01:03:05:02 for the mobile monitor extension.
