I am trying to set up a modem line that will automatically seize an outside line (user does not have to dial 9). I had this set up years ago on an SL-1 but don't remember how I did it. I am currently trying to set this up on a Meridian 1 Option 11C 1121 rls 23.55.

(I have tried CLS MNL with Feature HOT D 1 9 but it will not allow for end-to-end signalling)

Use pre-translation to insert a 9 on that station. Make sure that you create two speed call lists first: 1 that does nothing (to assign as the default pretranslation list), and then 1 that inserts a 9 (for your stations that you don't want to have to dial one).

This will preclude the station from being able to dial internal extensions - but if you dial DID numbers from that station, they'll go thru. Plus, if you have your BARS/NARS set up with SDID it will treat it as an internal call.

best way is pvr, that said i haven't set that up in years on an analog, you might dial the acod instead of the 9, if ld 49 nfrl is allow, you should be able to dial the rest of the digits..

another way is pretranslation, if you've never used it, set up the default table 0=0 through 9=9, that keeps all your working sets working, then build a table that translates 0=90 through 9=99, since the trans only works 1st digit, it removes the need for 9 and blocks all internal dialing...

we've used that for courtsy phones at hotels... you needed the operator internal so we did not translate the 0, you dial 0 for a room but all other calls dialed without the 9

How are you trying to make the modem go off hook, they don't do it on there own.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

If you don't want to dial 9 you can set up pre translations. enable PRE0 in the CDB (FTR I think), build 2 SCL's in LD 18 one for normal sets one for sets not dialling 9. Build 2 PRE in LD 18 associated with the SCL's the changs the set with the modem on to new PRE (all sets default to PRE 0). example of SCL's
