Hi,

I have two network interfaces on one of the Sun server. Can I use a single hostname with different FQDN denoting which network they are attached to.
For eg Hostname=myserver

N/W int 1- myserver.app.st.com
N/W int 2- myserver.mgmt.st.com

Sure, we do this all the time. Just remember that if you are on the management net, you might not be able to connect to the application net and vice versa (with ip routing turned off).

Thanx for the info.....I'll try this out then....

One question pops in my mind :-

What should the hostname.interface1/nodename file contain myserver or myserver.mgmt.st.com ?? Also what should be in hostname.interface2 ?

They simply must match what IP is in /etc/hosts.

That is how the IP is assigned, you could put "wigglydeewig" in /etc/hostnamed.device0 as
long as /etc/hosts had
a.b.c.d wigglydeewig
where a.b.c.d is the ip address of that interface.

It is not used for anything else.
