Hello,

i have 2 offices that i need to link together. I would like to have a single domain but have AD replicate between the 2 sites.

The reason i want a single domain is that i have roaming laptop users that need to connect to each site when they are there.

I'm also planning on setting up a hardware VPN between the 2 sites.

How does this sound?

Thanks in advance

Paul

Thats how our network is set up, we have a 1Mb leased line and our AD replicates fine.

!!A good cup of Tetley keeps the madness at bay!!

Great. how did you set it up?

What vpn devices did you use?

Any help would be great

The sister company of ours does this. I would recommend a box to box connection. I personally prefer sonicwall, they have a great user interface. If you're under 50 users at each local a soho3 would do the job. Check out thier site at sonicwall.com. I also beleive they have info on a box to box VPN.

Another thing, make sure you have at least a T1 at each location. DSL won't cut it from experince!

So basically you'll have a WAN with a DC one each end replicating with one another. IMO, say no to two domains, then you'll need to create trusts and will have to AD.

NOTE: For those roaming laptops, if they roam from each office keep them on a workgroup named the same as the domain. (Assuming you have users on the globa vpn client through sonicwall. This avoids headache when the user is not on a network. I know this is vague, if you need more details let me know.

Good luck...Charles

Anyone know of a tutorial or step by step guide on how to add a second site?

Cheers

Paul
