Trying to program a single bttn to not only dial voice mail (*777) but to insert the necessary pauses (hold bttn), the extension number and #, the password and #. However, when I attempt to enter the first pause (using auto dialing) it returns an "error" message.
Would really appreciate your help.
thank you

voicemail is 777 not *777, and if you try and set it up as a speed-dial it won't work because it grabs an outside line vs. an internal line to call 777.

thanks for yur post.

We've already programmed a bttn to access the VMS (intercom, 777)
(sorry on first post for saying it was *777. I meant intercom). and it doesnt grab an outside line. it does correctly access VM.

However, to save time we were trying to get this single autodial bttn to provide extension number and password also.

does this clarify our question? and is it not possible?

thanks

It won't let you do it. Once you program intercom 777, that's all you can do. You could program another button with the rest of the log-in though. So, you would press the Intercom 777 button, then once connected press the second button programmed for 11#PPP1234# or whatever there extension/password is.

that's unfortunate. 2 bttn option isnt ideal bcs bttns are at a premium.
thanks again.

Telecomboy, I've never been able to make that second button thing to work ( 11#PPP1234# ) is that a r8 feature?

You can't make that 2nd button go, because you are on the Intercom when checking voicemail.

Take an unused extension port, and remove all line appearances. Loop it to a CO line. Assign that CO line to a phone, reprogram the Auto Line Select to NOT include that line for outgoing calls. Program a speed dial button for 777P-(Extension Number)-#-(Password)-#.

Press the "CO" line (which gets Intercom Dial Tone) then press the speed dial button.

Only one person at a time can access their voice mail doing this.

Thanks TTT. (I'm with you pencom... I couldnt get the 2cnd bttn to work either)
I'd love to do this but as you can see, I am just a technical user. I think I know how to remove all line appearances from an unused extension port. but looping it to a call out line and forward is a bit beyond me. if you could graciously point me to the right series of command codes ie...
1. start with line assignments #301 (to remove line appearances).
2. ?
This would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

You're right, I thought I had done that before for a customer. I just tested it though and it doesn't work. Sorry about that. TTT's reply looks like it's the only way to accomplish this.

now i just need to figure out how to implement TTT's aproach!
thx

Pick an extension, remove all of its line appearances

#301-XX then press the "Clear" button on the programming overlay

Run a line cord from that extension port to a line port.

Assign that line port to an extension, #301-XX-(line number)-3, then press the button that you want to assign it to.

Change the Auto Line Select for that extension, through Centralized Telephone Programming, (Extension Number)-**-Press each line, but NOT the new "voicemail" line-**

Add the speed dial button to the phone, 777-Hold-(Extension Number)-#-(Password)-#

Press the "Voicemail Line" button, and hear Intercom Dial Tone. Press the speed dial button, it calls voicemail, pauses, dials the extension number and pound followed by the password and pound.

Thanks again TTT
unfortunately my program overlay does not have "clear"
tried remove bttn and it didnt work
searched manual and thot MICHFAI might work but also no luck.
sorry to try your patience but what bttn is clr.
(i've freed up the port and have hard wired to co port)
thanks

The "Clear" button is the 4th column, 2nd button down (for an 18 button set)

OR, just do #301-(Ext. No.)-01-2 to remove line 1, then #301-(Ext. No.)-02-2 to delete line 2, etc. for the rest of the lines.
