Am I able to download the CM 8.1.x simplex ova from the support site (I have entitlements) and spin that up w/o any sort of licensing purchase?

You download from PLDS but Licensing is required if not your in grace for 30 days till it expires

The only thing you lose is that after 30 days you cannot access the system via SAT. If you reboot the system your 30 days starts over again. I know people who do this with lab systems.
