Hello,

I'm trying to do a simple network config, but I'm clearly out of my depth. Hoping for some advice on the cheapest easiest way to achieve the following:

=> single internet connection shared between 3 distinct networks with bandwidth usage monitoring per network. Basic traffic shaping/bandwidth limiting per network would be nice. Most importantly - dead easy to setup (GUI, short learning curve, etc.)

My guess is I need a router capable of doing VLANs and per IP bandwidth history. Setup 3 VLANs on 3 ports and then connect a WAP to each port and be done with it.

Does anyone have recommendations for hardware to look at that will be relatively easy to configure? Tips on setting this up or documentation to read? Links to a perfect "how to tutorial" to do exactly what I want? (i can dream, can't i?)

Thanks for any pointers.

Honestly for something like that and someone so green I would maybe recommend a firewall with a good GUI.

I love Fortinets personally.

Thank you very much - simply looking at firewall hardware instead of routers & switches has been an insight.

I believe I'd be looking at FortiGate-50B, since the 30 has no VLAN support.
The Netgear UTM series also looks appropriate and (at the lowest end) much cheaper.

Is this the "all in one" beast I'm looking for - configure the VLANs and WAN setup, hookup the WAPs and be done and happy? (No messing with connecting trunk lines to switches and things the likes of which I have no understanding).

Thanks again for the revelation :)

Cheers,
