I have an exe and I want it to return variables back to wherever it was called from.

How do i do this?

in other words, I run dnsloc.exe and it uses my IP address to determine my dns suffix and then returns the dns suffix.

Do you mean like an activeX exe where you instantiate an object and use the methods and/or properties or do you mean something more like a console program?

ummm... console program. I want it to return a string... similar to the way the exit code works (int only).

Read faq222-2244 to see how to get the best from this forum. Then do a search on the forum for 'console' - it's been covered several times recently

thanks much guys.

I won't bump, but if I didn;t it would have never been answered.

Yes, it would - most questions in here get responses without the need for bumping.

Hence my reference to faq222-2244 which gives guidance on polite forum usage
