Hi friends,

I have a fledgling database I am working on, and I have a know-nothing kind of question for you gurus. I have split my tables up as well as I know how, and I am working on establishing and understanding the relationships between them.

Whatr I want to do is to create a form that I can use to enter data on one page with the goal of getting the information populated into the various tables. With this in mind, I am creating the relationships prior to creating the form.

What I need to know is whether I should use the tables themselves as the basis for the form, or if it would be more prudent to use a query? Can I enter data into a query based form and have it populate the tables?

And finally, I have a table that includes items in a particular job - how can I set up a form to allow me to enter multiple lines tied to a single foreign key, and have them all show up on the screen at once, in some kind of simple table format?

I know these are easy things for the gurus, but they boggle my mind trying to sort them out.

TIA
Regards,

When you have a Query in MS Access you have a "dynaset" that means it is a set of data that behaves just like a table. You can use the wizard to create forms. It makes it easy to set the fields up by picking.

If your form requires information across tables and requires conditions then a Query is appropriate.

Remember you can also set your tables for lookups in design mode. The lookup will pass on to the form.
