Hey,
Alright I have my links set-up to where if you hover over this object, beside the object a word appears. That works fine, the moment you hover over it the word appears. The only problem I have is, if you hover over the space where the word appears, it shows up like it's supposed to when I hover over the object. To get the effect I have now I simply make the object a button, edit in place, put a keyframe in the "over" section and put the word where I want it to be.
How can I get it to where I hover over the link and the word appears, BUT when you hover over the area the word appears it wont? I don't know if this makes any sense. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

the hit frame is what determines the trigger area. just make sure the word is not in the hit area and that the object in the hiot area is only occupying the area of the stage directly over your button. Regards,
TulsaJeff

Hmm I don't know that didn't work. Here look at the page. Hover over the "petal" like objects comeing from the heart. Notice the words come out when you hover over, but also if you hover over the area the words are they also come out. I made the petals buttons, then edited them and put a keyframe in the "over" frame and while in the over frame used the text tool to write the word beside the button. Then just saved it, but it's giving me that result. I want it to just show up when hovering over the petals, not also when you hover over the white are where the words appear. Sorry for not being clearer.

I see what you mean...looks and acts to me like the word is in the hit frame as well as in the over frame. Remember...only what is in the hit frame triggers a response... if the word is triggering a response then it must be in the hit frame somehow.

Feel free to send me your .fla file or post it online so I can download it and take a look... we could have this problem resolved in about 10 minutes or so.

just upload your .fla file to the same place as your NewLayout.swf and NewLayout.htm and post a link here. Regards,

ok... I already see your problem... are you ready?

you need 2 layers 1 for the button abject and 1 for your text.

Right now you have your petal on the up frame and your petal + text in the over frame... this is incorrect...

now create another layer...

click the over frame of your original layer and without letting go of the mouse button drag it to the over frame of your 2nd layer

right-click on the over frame of your original layer and hit delete

select the hit frame of your original layer and hit F5 (this will carry your button object across all frames and define its hit state)

TulsaJeff

correction on the 5th paragraph above....

you need to right-click on the over frame of your original layer and hit remove frames Regards,
