Hey everyone,

well, like the title of my thread says, this SHOULD be simple but i just can't get it to work.

Here's my situation. I have a website where the only thing that updates is the main window, towards the middle. Everything else (mostly menu buttons) needs to remain the same throughout whatever choices the user makes, so i need to always point to the same GIF files for all of that. The main window, however, needs to change and update as the user clicks on the menu buttons to the left.

Here's what i did: With the Slice tool selected, i right-clicked and chose "Select all slices" and then chose "Link slices for optimization", which revealed a whole bunch of new slices. Then i chose the slices i knew i wasn't going to need to change throughout the site and didn't have any rollover properties (basically all the random stuff ImageReady cuts up automatically) and selected "Combine slices". I rename the new combined slice "misc" and ImageReady calls all the miscellaneous stuff "misc01, misc02, etc", that way, those miscellaneous files are always the same ones no matter which page you end up on, faster load times.

The problem i come across is that whenever i create new slices in the main window (to create new rollover buttons), everything gets really messed up because ImageReady renumbers all the slices for the misc stuff.

go to and take a look at the main page. No problem. Now click on "Portfolio" and you'll see what i mean.

HELP!! What the hell am i doing wrong? I've tried everything i know!

Thanks

Raji

Comparing the source code in your main page and portfolio page the menu section should be the same.
The rowspan sizes vary.
Are you slicing the whole page?

Slicing the whole page? You mean, creating a slice that takes up the whole webpage? In that case, no... What i have is just slices where i need rollover buttons (menu to the left and e-mail at the bottom). ImageReady shows dotted lines where it's going to create slices everywhere else.

Sorry, the question wasn't too clear.

The whole page appears to be a single image sliced into pieces?
I would split the images up.
Create your rollovers as a seperate set and manually insert the HTML into the table cell.
The HTML for that section should be the same on every page but you have created a different layout in the Portfolio page.
