Hi guys, I'm new and I was wondering if any of you could help...

Basicaly I've created an animated gif of a 'sparkle' to put add to an image of some gold in various places to make it appears like it is shining.

So essentially I have a picture to use as a background, and an animation with a transparent background that I want to overlay onto it in various places to give the impression of it sparkling.

I'm having real trouble doing this however, I can copy a frame on top, but not the actual animation. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I was wondering if anyone could help. Should I even be using imageready to perform this function?

Thanks guys.

I take it you are trying to do this on your website?

If so then you can create your sparkle animation and then using CSS positioning you could place the animation on top of your images in the exact spot you want to give your desired effect.

However, you will need to remember something. Animated gifs, (well, any gifs) max out at 256 colors. They do not contain any alpha transparency (meaning - no colors can be shown in varying levels of opacity) so the edges of your gif images will always be solid based on the matte color you set when you save. This might create a problem for you if most of your images are more white and you set your matte color to white then try to place the animation on a black or darker image. You will see the oultines of the gif and it will look like crap. You may need to create multiple sparkles with varying matte colors to match each of your images.

Hope this helps!

Cheers for the reply,

I did some research and realised I couldn't do what I was after in imageready, ended up composing the thing from scratch in flash.
Cheers for the reply though. The idea about css positioning is definitely one to keep at the back of the brain!
