Simple File Sharing with XP Pro 1

I want to connect two computers, both running XP Pro, in order to share/transfer files. No internet access is involved.

It seems:

1.) I need a crossover cable
2.) I need to ensure that both systems are members of the same network
3.) I need to have the same userid logged in on each system
4.) I need to have a drive or directory shared if I want to see it on the other machine.

My question is this: are these 4 points correct, and are there any other points I need to address?

. no firewalls
. something, drive, folder, printer, but something shared on both machines
. Enable Netbios over TCP/IP on both machines, in TCP/IP Properties, Advanced, WINS tab
