Using CRXI for reporting against 4D Server.

I have written a quite simple Sales report, the main complication being that the detail is at the Invoice line level because certain categories of products are excluded.

It runs fine for single months, but when I get to about 6000 detail records I am advised that the data could not be retrieved, and then the error from Simba (the middleware) reports HY000[Simba] General error.

How can I find what this error really means.

Best suggestion is that you talk with some Linux people. Or go to this web site and look around.

Or go to a search engine and put in +"simba" +"ubuntu".

Unless your simba is something else.

Sounds like it runs out of memory, but it could just be hitting a snag and then barfing.

Perhaps you can limit the data set in some way, such as with a date limitation in record selection?

I think its a different Simba - the Simba I am using is an ODBC driver on Windows.

I think it is related to memory - would it help to group on server ?

Currently my detail area (Invoice lines) is hidden but contains a formula field (rSalesAmount) that adds 2 of the fields on the invoice line table.

My group footer #1 contains a Summary of rSalesAmount

I doubt if grouping on the server would make a big impact.

Are you pulling in a text field? If it is big, as in over 200 characters or a memo field, you could easily see the ODBC connection choke on badly written drivers.

Simple to test; remove those fields/formulas that access a text or memo of any kind and see if the odbc barfs on the next run.

Also; any chance you can switch drivers? What's the db?
