Has anyone ever done a WebSphere v3.5 silent install on AIX? And if so, how did you change the install.script file and how did you keep it from trying to execute a GUI display?

Mount the cdrom (/cdrom)
On the cd locate the file WebSphereInstallAIX.sh
Copy it to /tmp
Create a response file in /tmp and call it WS_response.res (there is a sample of this on the cd but I extracted the items below for ease of use)

IMAGE_DIR=/cdrom/usr/sys/inst.images
INSTALL_PLUGIN=X
INSTALL_IHS=X
INSTALL_APPLICATION=X
INSTALL_SAMPLES=X
INSTALL_ADMIN=X
INSTALL_INITIAL_CONFIG=X
USER_NAME=root
PASSWORD=<root password>
DB_TYPE =DB2
DB_NAME =<WebSphere Database Alias>
DB_USER =<WebSphere Database UserName>
DB_PASSWORD=<WebSphere Database Password>
DB_HOME =<DB2 database directory>
DB_URL=jdbc:db2:<WebSphere Database Name>
INSTALL_OLT=

Launch the install by:cd /tmp
./WebSphereInstallAIX.sh WS_response.res

Regards,

Eddie
