Hi WP,

Have you had a look at Row Level Restriction available in Supervisor??? I think that should help you with your present problem. You can designate in Supervisor which users can see which dimension values.

Sri is right. The best way to do that is to use Supervisor to add restrictions to the user ID. In effect, you are adding a where clause to the queries they run.

Just open Supervisor. In the left pane, click on the user or group (I prefer doing this at the group level). Then, double click on the universe you want to restrict, in the right pane. Go to the rows tab and click on Add. From there, you can select the table and constraint you need to place on the users reports.

Hope this helps!

Log in to Supervisor. Select your group or userid. In universe tab double click your universe. In row tab you can select your table and apply where condition

Maybe I missed it but you retrieve the user by calling @variable('BOUSER'). Somtimes this is helpful for joining to a security table.

Thanx guys.

All good ideas.

I was thinking along the the same lines as BIZ7 where I would have a user table in my Oracle schema (or Universe for that matter) and I would retrieve the country restriction and apply a BO condition using VBA On Document_Open event. Is this the sledgehammer that cracks the nut?

I don't have Supervisor authority but I know a man who does.

Hi WP,

Remember you have to take the pain in maintaining the user table in Oracle Schema and let me tell you it will be a real headache. Talk to your supervisor. Thats the best way to get better performance. Also if you use VBA and you will have problem deploying the report in WebI.

My best bet would be to use the option available in BO Supervisor!

I did a presentation at the BO conference on this topic. There are lots of ways to do this. You can get my presentation from the Tech Support site.

If you can't find it, send me a message and I'll send it to you.
