Sounds simple enough... scan the signature, then paste it as a picture in Report Writer.

Here's the snag: the only way I can get a picture into Report Writer is to previously have saved it as a jpeg. Unfortunately, you can't save a jpeg with a transparent background... therefore, the signature, when pasted into Report Writer, has a white block around it, which is going to look bad when printed on a green check.

Surely someone has circumvented this issue. How can we get a signature with a clear background to print on a check?

The file can be BMP, also, if that helps.

To add a logo or a graphic to a Great Plains report, follow these steps:

1. Copy the picture from a graphics program such as Paint. To do this, open the picture, then from the Edit menu click Copy. The logo can be no larger than 32KB and should be a .bmp or .jpg file.

2. Start Report Writer. From the Resources menu, select Pictures; the Pictures window will appear. Click New to open the Picture Definition window.

3. Specify the name you will use for the picture.

4. Click in the picture layout area below the name. From the Edit menu, click Paste. When the picture appears, click OK to save the picture, and then click OK in the Picture window.

5. Open the graphic report. The report must be a graphic report in order to add a logo. To make it graphical, clear the Text option check box on the Report Definition window. Go to the Layout of the report.

6. Select the Picture tool from the toolbox. The picture tool is the one that looks like a picture of mountains and water. Click in the report layout area where you want the picture to appear. The Pictures window will appear. Select the name of the picture and then click OK. The picture should now appear in the layout. Position the logo.

7. Grant security to the modified report in the Security Setup window (Setup | System | Security) and print it.

Thank you... We had done that, and here is what was throwing us off.

When we did those procedures you mentioned, then did a print checks to the *screen*, we kept seeing the white background that came with the logo....

When we actually printed to paper, the white background went away. Problem solved.

Thanks for your reply.
