I am relocating 2 signaling servers, and I would like to have no donw time with my SIP Clients and Virtual Trunks. I have a primary and back up but they are doing load sharing, so if I just power off one will all the clients register to the other? but they will take a down time correct? Is there a way to gently register all the sets to one and then take out the other one? One more question is, do I need to loging to the sig server or just press the button to power it down.

I would keep my pri ss and move the backup. When you shut off the backup ss the phones will register to the primary.

Your last question, HIT the off switch or just unplug power. The SS itself has no shut down option like in Windows.

unless you are using virtual trunking, shutting off a SigServer will not affect an active IP phone call. once call is complete, phone will re-register to other SigServer.

We do have some virtual trunks from one facility to another, what can I expect to happen when I power off the fail safe sig server? and is it a better idea to relocate the fail safe first and then the primary?

Nothing will happen to your trunks until you move the primary ss. Your dchannel will drop for a moment then the failsafe will take over. Overall your largest downtime will be phones registering to the primary after being dropped from the backup ss. It really doesn't matter what server you move first the dchannel will drop at some point in the move.

If you'd like to flip all the phones to one SS to the other "gracefully" before yanking the power cord.. you can login the SS you want to bring down and at the oam> type "help mam" (no quotes) and you'll see disServices run that and after it's migrated all your ipsets to the other SS then yank the plug on it...;)
