when building the signaling group for an DCS IP trunk does it matter what the near and far end listen ports are set to?? It inserts 1720 by default. I have several IP trunks and I'm unsure if these listen ports can/can't be the same as other signaling groups. In addition to that question the field about far end network region.. where do I get the info on what to put in that field?

The port doesn't matter so long as both ends are configured and your network/firewalls don't block the traffic.

You can have several IP Trunks and using the same port wont be a problem. each CLAN has it's own IP address so the port doesn't conflict.

The ports can be changed but must match on both sides and should be open in the firewall settings. 1720 is a default for VoIP traffic in general.

The network region settings are defined in Change IP-Network-Region x where x is the region you want to use. You will probably also want to define the compression CODEC set for RTP traversal in the codec set field (default is 1). To change that you would go to change ip-codec-set x where x is the codec set you want to use.

I hope this helps.

Here's a scenario..

office in NY
office in Ldn
new office in LDN

Ny extensions and domestic sites connect to NY via IP trunks.. some using h323 QSIG and some h323 DCS.

NY connects to LDN via DCS

everything is on an mpls network and we have a new site in london being brought online where we will have an ip trunk between the existing site in LDN and this new site. Can this be setup as h.323 using QSIG or there needs to be dcs-qsig translations?? no messaging is involved with these sites.
