Afternoon Guys,

I'm hoping this will be an easy question for you Siemens Engineers, I have a customer who wants to know if they can have Hot desking on a Siemens Hipath.
I'm an Avaya engineer and haven't dealt with these systems to often.

Thanks in Advance

On the hipath 3000 series it is possible, but unfortunatly I don't remeber how it's done since it's years back I did it.

The only thing I recall is that it was a hell after implementing it. Since it's not realy hotdesking but some sort of hardware/software port swap.
And when multiple users at the same time login or out the programming can get real messy.

So my suggestion whould be. Tell NO to you're customer.

Hi Bluemooner, the feature is called relocate. This does a port swap and changes all appearances of the relevant extensions. It is generally used where staff are moving desks and allows the customer to change users easily. It only works with phones of the same type. I have used it as a hot desk method by creating virtual extensions and then relocating these on to some desk phones as required.

As other posters have suggested you can use the feature 'autoset relocate'
You need to setup the 'signed off' extensions where INS=signedoff
PERSI SI has to be added normally a 2 digit code for example 99
then you have to add in WABE the SIGNON example **99 and SIGNOFF **98
Then when you want to signoff an extension you put **98 99 xxxx from any phone - that xxxx phone is then signed off.
If you want to sign on an extension - you go to that phone - it should have 'autoset relocate' on the screen
At that phone you press **99 99 xxxx and then it becomes the extension xxxx
You also need to have some digital ports signed off
CHA-BCSU:SIGNOFF

Hope that helps

Hi Bluemooner,

The programming Sbcsu has suggested looks like 4000 to me. On the 3800 you need to allow relocate in system settings. I would then create some virtual extensions and on these and the desk phones make a dss key as 'relocate'. Pressing this will ask for the other extension number and when entered will ask for confirmation, the tick key or ok depending on phone type, to activate the relocate thus bring the new extension on the phone in question. I have used this succesfully in a real estate envoironment where the desk phones were only allowed to make internal calls so the agents had to hotdesk their own number on which was also locked with a code only they knew to stop other agents using them. This allowed the company to charge for the calls made by the agent and also for the agent to have their own ddi and mailbox. Let me know if you need any more help. You will need Manager E to talk to the system to set this up.

Yes you are right - I did not see 3000 so assumed you were talking about 4000.
Us in the 4000 world forget that the 3000 can do 'things' as well !
