Hi All,

What can be the cause be of the telnet Customer and maintenance ports (19821, 19826, 23) locking up on a Siemens HiPath DX (iSDX) Version 9.3 and how can you free them up again?

I have already tried the following without success:
1) Reloading the System cards did not work. (Taking the power of both System Cards and putting it back again)
2) The XMMI N command did not work.
3) Switching System cards did not work.
My next step would be trying to replace one System card at a time.

Cheers,
Stoney

I have only come across this when the telnet program has been closed, i.e. not using the disconnect first, what are you using for telnet? I always found that Procomm Plus was the best allrounder for accessing switches of all types using dialup/telnet or ftp, it can be set up with individual directorys and the passwords, there are also scripts available for most dx/realitis long commands such as new isdn30/dpnss/nex block numbers.

Mal, thank you for your reply. I have been using Putty as its freeware and I cannot get hold of Procomm Plus. Do you know where can I obtain a copy? We also have a DXWEB Pro running. Cheers, Stoney.

not unless you know someone with a copy 4.8 is the version to have, it quite old (1999) so there must be copies out there, its also the program most Siemens engineers use.

I have found this on the web:-

I also found this on a Torrent site:-

It looked genuine enough.....

I dont know if there are any tricks on this sites, but you could try or browse for more...

Hi Mal,

Thank you for the info. I'll try it.

Cheers,
Hentie

If you always type the command 'BYE' when finished it closes the port.

Hi,

Thank you. Yes that is what we have grown accustomed to do.
The problem is now how to rectify it.

Cheers,
Hentie

Command 'bye' only stops the terminal been used by anyone else, the port is still open and you can sign directly on again, it was used when terminals were located next to the equipment to stop 'finger pokers' playing.
When using Telnet or a modem the program been used has a 'hang up' command, using this should stop port lockup, do not just close the program.

Hi Mal,

Thank you for the info.

Maybe you can edit the putty program to issue
BYE
HANGUP
before it closes
