Hello Everyone,

I have used Sidekick 99 with Windows 98. I then managed to get it to work with Windows 2000 professional. Now, I would love to get it to operate on Windows XP.

Has anyone been able to get Sidekick 99 to run on Windows XP? I get a C++ runtime error.

Looking for suggestions.

Thank you.

Dear xk3,

See the faq pages here especially:

faq807-3761

For the address of the download page, as I believe from what you have told me elswhere, that you are missing your installation CD, and have been trying to copy over the files which is one of the reasons that you have got the:
C++ runtime error message.

James33,

Thank you for your information. And to everyone, I have managed to get Sidekick 99 installed and operating on Windows XP.

I am very pleased to have found this Tek-Tips forum and will be coming back to it for more assistance with new problems as they develop.

I have successfully installed in Windows XP. Once installed, go the program directory and find the Exec. file and right click on and it properties and under compatibility check Windows 98. It works fine.

Unfortunately, my installation has been corrupted and I had to uninstall it. However, my original disk will not me reinstall it because it says "detect a previous installation or uninstall, please restart your computer. I do that but I am still getting that message. There is a work around, but I have seem to have misplaced the message on it. any help there, would be appreciated.
