I haven't heard of this happening to events before
Just to check, are you sure you didn't at some time delete just the events?
If not then see the following page, if that doesn't solve it try here again.

No, I don't think that I've deleted the events.
In my data files, there appears to be two event files,
1997even.skw is 8kB and 1997EVEN.SKb is 130kB.
I assume that the .SKb is a backup file, and it does seem to contain the events (I've used xtree to look inside file). I've tried deleting the .skw and renaming the backup file to .skw, but starting Sidekick 98 does the same again, creating a new 8kB 1997even.skw and a new 130kB 1997EVEN.SKb and not displaying events.

I found this in the Sidekick98 User manual in Chapter12
Your calendar file is actually up to eight files in the XXXX????.SKW format, where XXXX is the name you entered when you saved the calendar (it can be more than four characters). When saving, opening, backing up, or restoring calendar files, Sidekick 98 lists XXXX as the name of the calendar. The ???? part of the file name stands for the
type of calendar file, as listed here:
XXXXEVEN.SKW Events (appointments)
XXXXCALL.SKW Calls
XXXXTASK.SKW To Do items
XXXXMAST.SKW Goals
XXXXRECR.SKW Recurring activities
XXXXINIT.SKW Calendar settings (includes print settings)
XXXXCSCA.SKW Personal list definitions
XXXXDATA.SKW Special days and multi-day events
XXXXALAR.SKW Alarm information
XXXX*.SKB Back up copies of Sidekick 95 files you have opened
in Sidekick 98.
Check to see all these files are in the form shown and it would appear that the .skb represents a file you have opened in Sdk98 which was created in Sidekick95.
Further to that:
You cannot use Sidekick 98’s Restore utility to restore files backed up with Sidekick 95’s Back Up program. Similarly, you can’t restore in Sidekick 95 files that were backed up in Sidekick 98. However, Sidekick 98, Sidekick 97, and Internet Sidekick are fully compatible in backing up and restoring files.
So this appears to say that if you restored your Sidekick95 backups back into Sidekick95 and then just saved them you could CLOSE Sidekick95 & then open them in Sidekick98 or at least that is what I make of it....

I have recently installed Sidekick on a new computer running XP Home. Everything works fine, but the fonts in the calender, and the lines for appointments are very small. I may have fixed this problem in a previous version of Windows but am not fure.

Regarding SK 98 with XP and in particular, the "to do" and "calls" part of the calendar.. a review of this section will show many different experienences, with the consistent part being that there is no consistency.
Here is a work around: Take whatever calendar you are using and first and conventionally, do a "save as".. in my case, I save as "joe". Now.. do a second "save as"... and I save it as "jvl". You can do whatever you like.. just be sure and keep straight in your mind what is your primary active data calendar. (my case.. joe). As long as "joe" is working, at the end of each day, I do a save. Even if I didn't enger new data. But I also do a "save as jvl". Now, the next day, about 1 out of 4 days, I find the "joe" rolls over the appts, but not the "to do" or "calls"... and that part is VERY important to me. Very simply.. I open the "jvl" or secondary calendar. I then close the program, and restart it. It will want to open as jvl.. the secondary. But I like to keep all data straight in "joe" as primary.. so I open "joe". And every time, so far, it opened with correct data. Sounds a little hokey, a little unweildly.. but it IS a way to make everything work.

But I am just a little confused.
When you restart Sidekick and the active Calendar is jvl, do you then go to Calendar View and perform a
File|Open Calendar
and then open the calendar called Joe?
