Sidebar in wrong place with HIS 4850X2 video card 2

I installed a new HIS 4850x2 video card.
It works just great.
The problem is one that arose with the Sidebar position.
After I installed the latest win 7 software and drivers from the ATI site. Rebooting caused the Sidebar to locate about 3/4 of the way to the right side of the screen, instead of the far right.
I have found no way to move it all the way to the right where it belongs.
I unloaded the Windows Gadget platform in the Programs and Features dialog.
Rebooting showed no Gadgets.
I then enabled the Windows Gadget platform and upon reboot was placed in the same place, not to the right where it should be.
I have found no solution to this problem.

Any help is greatfully accepted.

Have a read, it talks about VISTA 64bit, but it should also work for 7even...

SOLUTION: fix the Windows Vista 64 Sidebar random positioning of gadgets on startup!!!
The problem is located in the 64bit version of the Sidebar. Since Vista 64 has the 32bit version also integrated, why not use that one instead?
I found out, if you open \Program Files (x86)\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe (only works by doubleclicking it in Windows Explorer, however not via shortcut (,yet ) the gadget positions are saved correctly again! Weird, but understandable. So u have to downgrade your Vista64 Sidebar to the Vista32 Sidebar.

Howto:
1. Firstly exit Windows Sidebar (Tray Icon-> exit)
2. Take full ownership of “\Program Files (x86)\Windows Sidebar” with all its subfolders
3. Take full ownership of “\Program Files\Windows Sidebar” with all its subfolders
4. Give the current user or, if you are member, the existing Administrators Group full control on both paths, too. Replace all exisiting inheritable permissions, too, again on both paths.
5. Download & Run the script:

Or the manual way:
Rename the 64bit sidebar.exe in (f.ex.) sidebar.exe.x64
Copy the 32bit sidebar.exe to the 64bit folder
6. Start the Sidebar, look at the Gadget positions.
7. Exit and start Sidebar again to check if they stayed the positions like before.
8. Sit back, relax and ENJOY Sidebar again! (this step is a must )
9. Optional: undo steps 2-4 (for security fanatics )

More Details on some steps (for noobs ):
to 2.& 3.
Rightclick the “\Program Files (x86)\Windows Sidebar” Folder from within Windows Explorer and click Properties.
Change to Tab: Security
Click on the Advanced Button
Change to Tab: Owner
Click on the Edit Button
Under “Change owner to:” select yourself or, if you are member, the Administrators Group
Select “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects”
Click OK
A security message Pops up, agree
Click OK 3 times (important to close the properties Dialog before going on)
- Do the same for “\Program Files\Windows Sidebar” Folder.
You are the owner of the Folder and its subs now.

to 4.
Rightclick the “\Program Files (x86)\Windows Sidebar” Folder from within Windows Explorer and click Properties.
Change to Tab: Security
Click Edit
Under “Group or user names:” select yourself or, if you are member, the Administrators Group and select “Full control”
Click OK
Click on the Advanced Button
On Tab Permissions click the Edit Button
Select “Replace all exisiting inheritable permissions on all descendants with inheritable permissions from this object”
Click OK
A security message Pops up, agree
Click OK 3 times.
You have Full control on the Folder and it’s Files now.

I am running the 32 bit version.
This seems to be pointed to the 64 bit version.

have you tried to change the resolution, e.g. lets say you had a res of 1024x768 originaly (onboard) and now with the new ATI you have 1280x1024, set the res down to 800x600, reboot the PC, then change it back to the 1280x1024, and see if that makes the Sidebar relocate correctly...

I tried setting it up to a higher resolution (1600 x 1050) and lower (800 x 600) but it didn't make any difference.
The sidebar still stays at the same ratio position / screen width

I also found another little problem. The icon for the Sidebar disappeared. Possibly it could be used to change from side to side to see what the effect is.

Which icon has disappeared? In Windows 7 there has never been a Sidebar icon in the Notification Area, a bit different from Vista.

Have a look at this location for a Settings.ini file which you might be able to manipulate?

I have a 64-bit version of Windows 7 and no access to x86 Windows 7, so I can't compare what you see with what I see here, only to say yours seem a bit void of settings compared with mine.

All I have is the Clock, two Weather, and SlideShow, but as you can see for what is worth the Settings.ini is huge compared to yours. Perhaps you can get some clues from it?
