Hi

I have a Cisco 2600 running v12 IOS. I wondered whether there is anyway to shutdown an interface at a specific time and then bring it up again at another time.

Basically I have an ISDN line that stays up all the time and I want to shutdown the link say between 19:00 - 07:00 hours.

Any help greatly appreciated :D

There are several timer programs that I know of which can do this. Or WinBatch can do it by script. Check out Cat Tools by Kiwi software.. you can send commands to the router based on time of day.

Perhaps someone knows some Cisco magic with the IOS itself?

You can do it on the router... good old access-lists

access-list 100 permit ip any any time-range only-during-open-hours

access-list 101 permit ip any host 255.255.255.255 time-range only-during-open-hours

time-range only-during-open-hours
absolute start 00:00 01 January 2001
periodic weekdays 7:30 to 18:30
periodic Saturday 8:30 to 13:30
periodic Sunday 8:30 to 18:30

Have fun!!!
