Right on Sunday the Power is being switched off at my work for maintenance. My boss hasn't shown himself all week and I will have to shut these things down. how should I go about it

4 running Win2k server, 1 of these has Exchange on it.
1 NT 4 server, running Citrix
1 Novell Netware 5

All and any help appreciated, and if anyone wants to move to Aberdeen, Scotland and earn around £36K and replace my f*cking boss would be most welcome. Aye Ready....well, maybe ;)

Do you have a domain set up on the W2K servers, or just a workgroup situation? I would recommend telling all your users to log off their systems prior to the shutdown. Then, gracefully shut down the plain file servers first, followed by the Exchange server, then Novell, and if you DO have a domain, shut down your domain controller(s) last. Then, reverse this procedure for starting back up.

I love Scotland, can I get a relocation package? :)

I don't think there will be a relocation package, but on £36K I don't think you'd need it.

Yes there is a domain. We have a PDC and a BDC as well. But what you've already said makes perfect sense, and it was what I was going to do but wasn't 100% sure if it was the right thing to do.

Incase your wondering who you can apply to, lol

(This is conrolled by the Norwegian base, so it's usually down most times :/

cheers, now all I've got to do is try and get out of bed early on Sunday to do it :( Aye Ready....well, maybe ;)

right now, that's a little over 56K U.S.
Pretty good for Aberdeen, I would think....
