Hi,

I have Windows 98 and Windows 2K pro installed on my AMD XP system and setup as dual boot.

I have just installed XP Home edition(new installation). Now I have 'triple boot' OS menu.

Now here comes the problem, when I boot to Windows 2K, after doing my work, I clicked START | SHUTDOWN | SHUTDOWN.

After performing the usual saving personalized settings etc. it did not shut down properly! :(

It was shown the BSOD error related to ACPI.sys.

Any advice?

Rgds,
bluescreen

I just had exactly the same problem. I have w2k installed on an AMD system and I started getting the same blue screen notification. Sometimes the computer could not get past POST.

In my case the processor's cooling fan was wearing out and the processor was way too hot. I replaced the cooler and the fan, the computer started booting normally. One system file was corrupted, propably due to a crash caused by overheating. I replaced the file from CD and now the system is up and running.

I hope the problem you're facing could be something simple like mine.

Regards, Noblehill
