Avaya IP office R5

Hi,

I am fairly new to supporting Avaya phone systems and am after a bot of advice.
We have recently replaced a customers phone system and have got it set up pretty much how they want it.

One thing they keep asking is that on their old system when they put a call through to another extension they instantly got a busy tone if the line was busy.

From what I have read the Avaya system does not work in this way and will pass the call back to the transferee.

Am I right in what I am saying or is there a way to acheive what they are after.

Sorry if I haven't explained very well but finding some of the phone terminology a bit confusing at times.

Thanks for any help\ideas.

Jon

Drop the users down to 2 appearence keys and selsct "reserve last CA" in the users multi line options, now it will give busy unless they have VM then it will go to their greeting instead :)

Hi,

Wow that was a quick response.
Unfortunately I don't really have a clue what you mean.
They have an IP office 500 system.
Running IP Office Manager 7.0(26)
Avaya 5410 phones.

Don't seem to have come across any of those options.

Thanks for the quick response though.

Regards

Jon

Thanks again.

I don't quite understand how this will work but I will give it a go.

I have some of the buttons below the appearance buttons programmed, I take it these will be unaffected once I remove one of the appearance buttons. At the moment they have 3 appearance buttons set in default user rights so will have to remove from there I think?

Jon

correct remove it there. also if the users have voicemail this wont return busy. it will cover to VM right away.

Thanks for the help.

Never had such quick responses on a forum before.

I have made the changes and will wait for them to test.

if they are using user right, then yes. If not, then you remove it from each user.
