Hi There
I'm just setting a rebuilt PC at work and installing Windows 2000 Professional Workstation with service pack 3 for the first time.

Should I make a separate boot partition and if so what size?

Is reactivation required ith Service Pack 3, am I able to move the hard drive to a different machine at a later date.

Thanks in advance

There is no requirement for a separate partition, but I highly recommmend a separate system partition arond 3 to 6 GB for easy maintenance. Put the leftover into one partition (or more if you want to).

I cannot count the times this has helped with upgrades, crashes, etc.

Hope this helps!

2k doesn't have activation - so, no you won't require reactivation (but are you aware of potential problems of moving hard drive with operating system from one machine to another - drivers etc. There are a number of good advice sites with detail of how to prepare drives for doing this).
