Can I delete an expired certificate from an sbs2008 box without causing any problems.
I get event id 64 saying it is expired. The expiry date is 2 months ago. It is in the personal certificate store and is issued to Admin by the server itself with the intended purpose of code signing.

If this is the self-issued certificate, then you need to create a new one. Run the "Fix my Network" Wizard from the SBS Console.
It is on the Network Tab and is located on the right hand side of the screen.
Don't delete the certificate since the Certificate Authority uses it. It should have been valid for 5 years.

It is Best Practice to get a 3rd party certificate. These are available in 1 to 5 year renewal periods. We use Starfield Technologies, a division of GoDaddy. They are prety inexpensive (<$60) and easy to install.
