I set up my FTP site, so that when I (the administrator) log on, the default is the D: directory. When users log on, they are taken to their own folder on the D: drive, and cannot climb any higher in the tree. On the root of the D: drive, where the administrators log onto when they access the FTP site, there is a shortcut to the E: drive. How come I can't use this shortcut? It asks me to download it.

Thanks,
Nick!

Shortcuts are actually little files that windows knows to load with explorer and open the correct location.

When you're logged on via FTP windows does not execute files when you select them it downloads them.

So it's not possible to jump between drives on an FTP site?

Not nativly. There may be a 3rd party solution of some kind, but I doubt it. It is simply not the sort of thing that FTP is normally used for.

You can setup a virtual directory that redirects to the other drive
