I created a dynamic parameter that has just 275 values in it.
When I run the report and prompt the user, CR displays about 200 values and puts the rest in another batch that has to be selected before the values are available.

I have Allow Multi Values = True and Allow Discrete Values = True.
Is there another setting that allows all values ( <1000 ) to display in the prompt as one list?

Thank you

Hi,
There is a registry setting that governs this, see:

I've tried that. The default is supposed to be 1000. My list only has 275 values and should not be affected. Even after making the registry change, the prompt still show 2 batchs of values, one with approx 200 values and the other 75 values in the second batch.

As a follow up. There are exact 200 values in each batch. After making the reg change and creating a parameter with >2000 values, each batch consists of 200 values. With 10+ batchs to accommodate the complete list.

Hi,
I have never seen CR create 'batches' of parameter values..

What is the query or method you used to create the dynamic parameter?

I believe that the values in the first parameter will be limited by whether the cascading values in the second parameter would result in more than 1000 values. So if there are 200 values in {?Parm1} which each have 50 values, you would see all parm1 values, but if they each generated 100 values, you would see only 100 Parm1 values on your initial list.

Hi,
To follow up on LB's posting, are they in fact cascading parameters as well as Dynamic?

No there is just one parameter.

Here's what I just tried.
In Excel, create a list of 1000 numbers. Save as book1.txt, a plain text file.
Open CR2008,
Create a blank report with no database.
Create a new parameter called My Parameter.
Import book1.txt.
Drop MyParameter into the Detail section.
Refresh.
The dropdown list in the prompt will show values 1 - 200.
Just below the dropdown is another dropdown list (tip says Discrete Value).
Choose #5.
The first dropdown list will now show values 801 - 1000.

I'd like to see all values in one long list. On my real report the list only has 275 values.

I hope this clarifies what is going on.
Thanks

Sorry, I misunderstood. This sounds like a feature specific to CR2008, so I for one can't help.

Hi,
Same here..I suspect that the saved .txt file from Excel is not exactly what it seems..Try opening it with a text editor and see if it is, in fact, just a list of 1000 values.

I opened it notepad and it’s a list of 1000 values and resaved with the same result. This batching thing is something in Crystal Reports 2008 and I can't find any reference to it anywhere, so far.
