I have 2 lines set up with group ID 2 under Lines in the Avaya IP Office Manager software, and they are set up as both way and I can call into them fine. I want to have it so a user can specifically select one of these lines (both are in their own group ID)

I have tried using a short code, Dial, and then put Line Group ID set to 2 (the drop down only shows 0 and 50: Main) but when I do this and try to use that short code I get UNOBTAINABLE on the phone and a busy signal.

Make a new ARS using the line group, it will automatically be 51 and the name you give it. Short code, dial, 51:name

OK I see that, but how do I get that ARS to default to that particular Line Group?

please forgive me, I am still very new to this and am not familiar with phone systems all together. Ok I see in the ARS section I can add some short codes there, is that where I should be doing this? or in the shirt codes section in general.

I am trying with trial and error but keep getting Incompatible or something like that when I try to dial out.

check & change if necessary the outgoing group id on the trunk(s) you are playing with

outgoing group id is not the same as the line ID & will be 0 by default.
