Short Code to tell if inside extension is busy?

We recently migrated from Nortel to IPO and miss the former's feature of notifying an internal caller dialing someone else's internal extension that the other party is busy ("later" I think it displayed?).

Is there any way a short code with an extension as an operand could show if an extension is in use?

The feature is available from R10, in the mean time assign the user with two appearance buttons and enable "reseve last CA" in user>supervisor settings>multi line options.
Then calling a busy station gives busy tone.

Unless the user has voicemail turned on in which case the call will go to voicemail.

User buttons give BLF capability, so depending on the size of the office you could get away with 9608/9611 handsets with user buttons or could add on button modules if more than say 15 staff.
