Is their a user or system short code I can programme to end a call to another system extension?

Scenario:

Doctors surgery use call to an external pa/tannoy/ext to call patients, but sometimes forget to end the call and broadcast the consultation to the waiting room - I would like to programme a feature key on the reception phones to hangup the extension if this happens.

System is an IP Office 500 using 5410 and 5420 handsets.

Thanks in advance for any response/pointers.

Use System Staus application to diconnect the call :)

Try a call steal or something simular.
But i think it will stay there.
Perhaps using system status and ending the call in there is an option ?

Also I guess you could give them a Call steal button then they could simply hang up after stealing the call :)

Jake, how do they initiate the page? You could modify the shortcode to only allow a page of 1 min Using the (t)1 code

Thanks guys - a stunning and impressively quick response.

I can't use the call status app as the phone system is not currently joined to their LAN (NHS policy as system is externally maintained). Call Steal looks the best bet - but I could set a page timer for this ext.

Thanks again - Jake

My Missus doesn't find quickness quite as impressive :-0

if it's just one user then revoke paging priveleges until they swear they can learn to hang up. or use the t shortcode which would be considerably less fun.

Get well soon Aaron.

Oh Yeah - they are smart people, highly trained and occassionally brilliant - but like all such they're not terribly worldly wise and never master the simple things ;)

That could explain why my typing is so bad :)

Try to change the shortcode for paging.

Example

*77*N#
Dial paging
Nt(5)

This will end the paging after 5 minutes.

If this happens a lot, I'm guessing it is being addressed now because an "interesting" conversation got broadcast.

The "t" short code and System Status got covered already so I only have the electroshock therapy suggestion.

This is more fun than the others which are really much better options.

Create a login code for every offender and just "steal" their whole extension. When their phone will says "NoUser" you can makeup any story you want about what it will take to restore their phone. Tell them you'll need to reboot the system at the end of the day to get their extension back and that they should really really pay more attention... or you could just log it back in but then they'd never learn.

Give the poor man a VM Pro and use the following actions:
Create a module "CallPatient" connect the start point to a "Edit Play List" action and enter "CallPatient.wav" in the specific tab, connect this action to a "Post Dial" action and on the Specific tab enable "Post Wave File" and put "CallPatient.wav" in the "Post the following action or wave file" and enter "PAGE:<ext nmbr>" in the target field connect a "Disconnect" action to this action.

Create a shortcode like *99/Voicemail Collect/"CallPatient"/0

The doctor dials *99, press 2 to record the name of the next victim eh... patient and press 3 to save then the doctor disconnect, the recorded message will be send to the desired destination.

If the destination is a system telephone then the recorded message is played after a short beep over the speaker.
