Hey there,
Anyone out there know how to deal with a mouse power problem? I've got a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer, and after installing the Intellipoint 3.2, I occasionally lose power to the mouse i.e. no more lights at the bottom of the mouse and mouse doesn't work. I usually fix this problem by unplugging and replugging the mouse, but this can't possibly be good for the mouse or computer. Anyone know why its losing power and how to fix it?

To go where no comp repairman has gone before,
Kenny

P.S. I'm really sad

Its connected to a PS\2 port...
same problems when using USB, though more frequently

sounds like a problem with the defrag mental flux capacitor. If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out

When you unplug and plug the mouse back in do you shut the system down first? PS/2 devices draw a little power through the PS2 port (Thats why your mouse lights up), pulling the plug in and out when the PC is running can damage the port. The ps/2 port has a power and ground built in to it. Not plugging those in to their respective "area" at the same time can damage the port. So after time the port becomes unstable or unusable. Most people do not know or realize that this happens.
USB is nearly the same except its desighned to be hot swapable. It sounds as if you have a defective mouse or bad main board. Have you tried another mouse?

Thanks for the help guys... thrashed the old mouse and got a new one... works fine... Who'd thought that a rogue mouse could do so much damage?
