Hi, a problem keeps cropping up on our W2K server backups.
It is "E3406 Unable to read file - sharing violation"
It only happens on GIF, BMP and JPG files and affects ALL of them (over 50,000).
I have recently re-installed and re-configured Arcserve at CAs request due to other security restrictions and am happy that everything else is working well. But this is just bizarre!

We had the same problems with the sharing violations on JPG, BMP, ICO, etc. Yesterday a consultant of CA visited us and had contact with some of the developers. They said that the Job-engine had to run with an account other than LocalSystem. So this is by design and not a bug, although it isn't documented anywhere. This user could be your backup-account which you used to install arcserve.
After restarting the job-engine, in the next backup there are no more sharing violations.
