In Win2000, I am using Synchronizer successfully, but cannot synchronize .mdb (database) files. The MS Prof. Resource Kit Book, page 374, says that, while .mdb caching is disabled by default, you can override these settings by using the FILES NOT CACHED group policy setting. As administrator, how do I get to it? The book also says that by right-clicking the shared folder, you get a tab SHARING where you can then click CACHING and SETTING. But when I R-click a drive or folder, I only get a MAKE AVAILABLE OFFLINE line to check or uncheck, no SHARING tab??

you need to be on the computer that the actual shared file/folder is on, you cannot do this remotely. that is why you are getting the "make available offline" options. you need to be were the file is physically kept. no short cuts, nothing. just the file.

Thanks Smileybry - My synchronize is running out of the W2k computer, and the .mdb file disable option that I want to override is in there, isn't it? The file itself is in a W95 computer, and R-clicking it in there gives no SHARING tab at all. What if I put the same file in the W2k computer, could I override the .mdb disable in its sharing tab, ort do I have to get into "group policy?"

Thanks again.

you should be able to override it if you put it on the 2000 machine. i dont have a pc running with 95 on it, but make sure you have file and print sharing on the computer enabled (you can do so in the network control panel). i'd just move it to the 2000 machine anyway, it'd be safer
