Hi we just installed some servers and workstations and the problem we experience is: when a workstation is in Win2000 pro O/S it is able to see and access a folder on the Win2000 Server.

But when the same Workstation is in Win ME O/S and we try to access the same folder on the WIN 2000 Server, we don't see it at all.

The Win Me Workstation is in contact with the Win 2000 Server because we have access to the Sysvol folder.

anybody saw that before.

may i ask you Do you have a Workgroup OR Domain ?
then do you use the same user account in both OS, and what about the premission for this folder...

How are your users setup?

IS the the user using ME the same user using W2K?

Because of the way authentication works, if you're not using domain user authentication, you'll have to do this the hard way.

On each Windows 2000 machine, you'll have to create every user who logs in and their associated password.

I would highly recommend taking one of those servers, promoting it to the role of Primary Domain Controller, and having it handle all username/password management. The rest of the machines would then need to be configured to follow this method.

The advantages are pretty easy to see.

1: Centralized user administration
2: Global password changes
3: Increased security
4: Enforcable password policies
5: Gives the network admin guy something to do

:)

Thank's to everybody but, Yes I tried a domain and then a group.

Yes I used the same user account in both OS and the permissions where tried full contol etc.

To Klae same user in both.

To ShaithisDanoveur, it is an environnement to make people learn how to install printer drivers etc. so I can' t us a Domain controller.
