Does anybody know if I could make a UNIX printer available for printing to WIN NT or 2000 using TCP/IP printing? The local printer is connected on /dev/lp0. It looks like rlpconf is something that does it but the manpage suggests it to be for UNIX to UNIX only. I've asked the rest, now I'll try the best.

I have it working with my 2000 machine, but have not tried NT 4 yet.

You can easily use rlpconf script to add the entry in /etc/printcap for you. You just have to tell the script the name of the printer and what device is used like /dev/lp0. Then the machine that is going to print remotely print should be in /etc/hosts /etc/hosts.equiv and /etc/hosts.lpd

In W2K you must add Print Services for UNIX (I don't know why you can't do the manual method). And then while adding the printer you are prompted to specify a port, you will add a new LPR port. There it asks you name or ip address of remote server and queue name. The queue name is name you specified in rlpconf script.

I hope this helps.
