Hello all,

I have SharePoint Portal Server 2003 running on a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition Member server. This has been working fine for months. I just ran DCPromo on the server, to upgrade to a secondary DC, and this worked fine. However, when you try to access sharepoint, you get a "WEB APPLICATION UNAVAILABLE" error in huge red text. I've since DCPromo'd again to return to member server, and service packed everything possible. I think the problem is the .NET framework. I cant service pack it though, or re-install, and I cant find it listed anywhere to remove, so theres seems to be an error there. Anyone else had this? Or if not, anyone know how I can manually get rid of the .NET Framework?

Cheers,

Matt

Hello Matt,

Have you been able to sort this out yet?
What does the Windows Event log say?
What happends when you try to servicepack the .NET Framework?

Have you checked
If you get a solution to this, could you please post it here, since it could be interesting to know how it is solved. I guess this could be a pretty common issue.

Cheers,
Thomas

Hey,

Still no joy with this. When you try to install any .NET Framework service packs, it says you cannot install this package as the .NET Framework does not appear to be installed. The .NET Framework is part of the windows 2003 server OS, so it should be there. I think its corrupted somehow. When I try to install the framework however, it says it cannot install as it is already installed on the machine. aaargh! Looking decidely like a rebuild at this point in time. Any thoughts are most welcome.
