SharePoint Portal Alternatives?

Does anyone know of any alternatives to SharePoint Portal server? I am looking for something with basically the same functionallity but less expensive, FREE even.

I know the product from "untited planet" with name "Intrexx". Only the document mangement system is not complex.

Microsoft offers different licensing programmes. One of them is called ASP (application service providers).

Under such an agreement the ASP (hoster) firm licenses Sharepoint per user I believe. Then ASP firms can sub-allocate that license to an end-user like you.

All in all, the app is managed for you, you just have to access it and use it. Quite handy and often fairly cheap. Monthly cost that comes in your tax-deductible expenses...fairly good news!

Don't know if that helps. You can get what you want, maybe for less money that what you thought.
