So I'm tryin to edit data in a datasheet, yet I always get an access error.

I'm a domain admin on the server.

It says "connect to server.domain.com"
(server replaced with the server name, domain.com with our domain)

I tried logging in using:
domain\william
domain.com\william
server.domain.com\william
server\william

And the administrator account on all of those domains, yet I still get a "you don't have access"

Yet I'm logged in through sharepoint!

I am using office 2003 professional... I'm out of ideas.

Edit:

Tried it on another server that uses portal services too, worked fine...

I just removed sharepoint and reinstalled it... am I missing a setting somewhere?

Try going to add remove programs, find office pro 2003, click on change, then I think it is asks to repair, add/remove features or uninstall. Choose add/remove I cant remember exactly, I think under office tools but there is a sharepoint component in there which doesnt always install on first use like its meant to, change it so it is installed to your PC/server not install on first use.

Cheers

Sorry my bad, I think for the resolution above you would get a message saying to install a compatible spreadsheet editor like office 2003.

Wait... does the server require office 2003 pro ALSO?

If so thats the problem.

No, just whatever machine you are trying to edit in Datasheet view on.
