well... I am not exactly a SharePoint guy.. but i was tasked to find a way to migrate SharePoint server 2003 to sp 2007 (moss).
my current setup: 1 - SharePoint webserver and 1 database server. i would like to build two new servers: 1 webapp and 1 database.
it there an easy and least painful way to migrate from 2003 to 2007?
Any help appreciated.
Thx!

Least painful is to do as you suggest:
1. Build two new servers.
2. Then run the prescan tool on your existing farm (always a good thing to do, can fix minor issues).
3. Then move the databases over to your new sql server
4. Then add them into your 2007 sharepoint web application.

You can test out this process before you do a production cut over. If you have alot of customizations you might be in for a lot of fun.
