I'm not able to access any shared drives on my file server. In Windows Explorer if I try to select a drive (IPC$) I get prompted for a password that I don't recall setting up. I've gone into the shared resources folder in W2K and even tried mapping a drive but to no avail. Am I missing something? Any help would be very appreciated.

Be sure that on this server that the drives are shared this way. After right clicking on a drive and selecting sharing, be sure the drive shows up with a $ after the letter, for the administrative share. If not you would get prompted for a password from another machine if you tried to connect to it. Ususally it should have the share and permissions transitive, but I have seen this happen once before. What I came to find out was that after an upgrade from NT4 to W2K this happened on 1 server. I hope this helps.
