I am having a problem with a shared printer sharing with a win98 pc and a win2000 machine, the win2000 machine prints fine to the printer, but when the win98 machine tries printing to that printer it keeps asking for a password, tried setting up a userid on win2000 machine for win98 user and still same problem, how do i get that box to not come up and to be able to print to that printer.. any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks

This may sound a bit obvious but on the Windows 2000 machine if you right click on the driver in the printers folder (and please make sure you do this for all the drivers that you have installed for this shared printer on this Windows 2000 PC) and then left click on sharing did you enable a password? Did you share to all users?

Was this set up with administrator rights on the 2000 box?

The password prompt that you see is on the 98 box right? Do you have any type of virus protection on the 2000 box….. say like Norton Internet security?

Hope this helps.
