Shared items to Recycle Bin

Does anyone know of a way to send items on a shared drive to the recycle bin when a user deletes them? The boss doesn't want me to change the permissions so users cannot delete files even though this is a common problem.

Are you running Server 2000 or 2003? in 2003 you can setup a shadow copy in the drive properties, this will allow you to 'roll back' files.

I proposed Shadow copies but my boss isn't familiar with it and I think he thinks it's much more difficult than it is. He basically wants the files sent to the recycle folder and he doesn't really believe me that it isn't possible, I'm just looking for some reinforcement, or to be proven wrong.
