Hello,

I have a database that is shared in a multi-user environment. We recently had a server go down and since it has come back up I can not access this shared database because I keep getting a Jet database error saying I am "attempting to change the same data at the same time". I have checked our server and no one is showing logged onto this database and have tried to make a copy of the database but still can't get in. Any ideas??

Thanks in Advance

Your data database will be named something like DB.mdb.

In the same folder where it is, after making a backup of both files, deleted the db.ldb file. Hopefully then you can get it. The first thing you should do is try compacting and repairing the database once you are in (open the data file directly if it is a split system).

I tried to delete the .ldb but it is giving me an in use error just like the database. Any other thoughts?

You can open the LDB file in notepad (there is also a handy tool called ldbview available from Microsoft) and try to discern who (probabaly by computer name) that alledgedly has the file open and ensure they do not.

Once that is done and you still cannot access the file or delete the LDB file, it must be a file lock held by the server that is not being released. Your admin may have a better solution for this but restarting the server should force all locks and connections closed thereby allowing you to retry my original suggestion again.

Good luck.
